Effective date: October 1, 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how Lab7 Software ("Lab7", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the MealWise application and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, display name, and authentication credentials.
- Profile and wellness information you choose to provide: goals, dietary preferences, allergies, unit preferences, and PCOS-related profile details such as cycle phase or symptoms you elect to track.
- Food and activity data: meals you log, photos you upload or capture for meal analysis, water intake, and journal entries.
- AI conversation data: messages you send to the in-app assistant and the responses generated, stored so your chat history persists.
- Technical data: device type, app version, and — only if you opt in — anonymous product analytics and crash reports. Crash reports never include your meals, photos, or personal content.
2. How we use information
- To provide and personalize the Service, including nutrition tracking, meal analysis, and AI-generated suggestions.
- To maintain your account, sync your data across devices, and provide customer support.
- To improve the Service through aggregate, opt-in analytics.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. We do not sell your information
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise provide your personal information to any third party for their own marketing or any other purpose. We do not share your personal information with third parties except (a) with service providers strictly as needed to operate the Service (such as cloud hosting and AI model providers processing your requests on our behalf), or (b) when required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request.
4. Artificial intelligence processing
The Service uses third-party AI models to analyze meal photos, parse meal descriptions, and power the assistant. When you use these features, the content you submit (such as a photo or message) is transmitted to the AI provider solely to generate your result. Lab7 Software does not control, and is not responsible for, data that is provided to or from AI models or the content AI models generate. AI providers process data under their own terms; we configure them for processing only, not for training on your data where such controls exist. See our AI Disclaimer for details.
5. Health-related information
MealWise is a wellness tool, not a medical device or healthcare provider. Information you log about PCOS, symptoms, or diet is stored only to power features you use. We treat it with the same protections as all other personal data and never use it for advertising.
6. Your rights and choices
- Access and export: download a complete copy of your data at any time from Settings → Privacy & Data.
- Correction: edit your profile, goals, and preferences in the app.
- Deletion: clear your journal or permanently delete your account and associated data from Settings.
- Opt out: turn off analytics and crash reports at any time; the Service works fully without them.
Virginia residents: under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA) you have the right to confirm whether we process your personal data, access it, correct inaccuracies, delete it, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling. We do not engage in sale, targeted advertising, or profiling with legal effect. To exercise any right, email support@lab-seven.com. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our response; we will resolve appeals within 60 days.
Residents of other states or countries may have additional rights under local law (such as the CCPA/CPRA or GDPR). We honor access, correction, deletion, and portability requests from all users regardless of location.
7. Data retention and security
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our active systems; backups purge on a rolling schedule. We use encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level isolation between accounts. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app with a revised effective date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
